réseau Art Nouveau Network ::

2001 - 2004

Art nouveau in progress, 2001-2004
For its second phase of activites (2001-2004), the Network organized a program of studies, awareness campaigns, diffusion and formats that were financially supported by the European Union.  The principal theme of this second phase of activities was "Art nouveau in progress", and was carried out in several ways:

- An international symposium, Vienna (October 24 and 25 2002)
This symposium proposed an analysis of the modes of transmission of the Art Nouveau heritage throughout the 20th century by retracing its progressive rediscovery and by emphasizing the current problems concerning conservation and enhancement.

- Traveling exhibitionArt nouveau in progress

The exhibition was successively displayed in all the member cities of the Réseau Art Nouveau Network. It presented Art Nouveau in the 13 partner cities of the Network through a richly illustrated panorama. Four thematic sections offered an explanation on the history of the Art Nouveau heritage and its evolution since its creation up to its contemporary popularity by evoking lost work.

In Nancy, the exhibition was displayed in the Poirel Galleries from April 22 to June 20, 2004. A section dedicated to the Villa Majorelle displayed original works.

- Art Nouveau month (May 2003 and May 2004)
A month of educational activities organized to make Art Nouveau well-known amongst students. Visits and publications targeting age groups allowed students to discover the Art Nouveau heritage of their city in context with other European models.
