Business is business

Business and commerce in the city center

From Place Maginot, the heart of Nancy’s banking center at the beginning of the 20th century, to Place Stanislas, focal point of the 18th century city, this walking tour explores the most unexpected sites of Nancy’s economic and business areas in the 1900s. Some of the key locations include shops and boutiques, banks, newspaper agencies, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as hotels, brasseries and concert halls and many more sites that transform and mark the city center up to this day.
The Ecole de Nancy made the most of modern technology and innovative arts and crafts to leave an imprint in stone, metal, glass and wood, the ambition and the team spirit that characterized the bourgeois businessmen of the period.
